1978 Firebird Trans Am
Finished in Mayan Red with the deluxe Carmine Red velour interior, it
features a 6.6 litre (400 cubic inch) Pontiac L78 motor mated to a TH350
automatic transmission with 2.56 gears. Factory
options include power steering & brakes, power windows & locks, air
conditioning, tilt steering wheel, buckets with centre console and a full
rally gauge package. Previous owner aftermarket changes include “C&C”
T-Tops installed in the mid-80’s along with conversion to true dual exhaust.
Gerald’s recent modifications include replacing the
original AM/FM one-speaker radio to a modern “retro-look” system. In
addition, he converted the original non-functioning shaker hood scoop to one
that opens under full throttle via a solenoid and kick-down switch.
Already a Manitoba Pontiac Association car for
several years, Gerald purchased the Trans Am in early 2008. A winner of several
car show awards, it has also been featured in the January 16th,
2009
